UPDATE

Vampire Community.com is going to reopen. I have rebuilt the forums and they are ready to rock. As of this moment we officially have 4 forums open. The Notes for The Founder forum, the Questions and Answers forum, the Psi/Psy forum and the Spirituality forums are open. Feel free to poke around the forums and check them out. If you are interesting in moderating a forum or helping out in any way leave me a message. As soon as I have moderators in place I will unlock the rest of the forums.

I have grown weary of trying to block all the spam that has been attacking this site. I am also sick and tired of little teenage wannabes using my domain to post half naked pictures of themselves, fake suicide threats, create drama, begto be turned, carry out roleplay fantasies and all sorts of other inappropriate things.

I became ill this summer with a disease I am still battling. I do not have time in my life to babysit. I expect to set up a website with rules and regulations that are simple to follow for any mature, responsible adult with it needing to be constantly monitored and moderated. Unfortunately little kids with too much time on their hands have run amuck without considering that someone actually pays for this domain and the for the server it runs on. This makes them think they have the right to do whatever they want to on MY site.

Once upon a time this website boasted a substantial amount of active, participating members, moderators and administrators. Conversations took place, friends were made and relationships were built. We debated, discussed, researched and played. All on the same website. Sure we had our fair share of trolls (who I gave a forum to of their very own!), spam and roleplayers. We dealt with it.

I would like to see it thrive again but I have other endeavors now. Don't get me wrong, I will always have a soft spot for SSVC. Part of its logo is tattooed on my arm. But I will be brutally honest; it doesn't make me one red cent. It costs me money. My other sites and projects are how I make a living. This is the biggest reason I, myself, have not been active here.

When I left it, I left it in the hands of someone who did an outstanding job. She did the best she could but she simply became overwhelmed and I wasn't around to back her up. Nobody was. Everyone, slowly, one by one left to pursue other things in their life. What followed was an enormous amount of idiots, porn and kids with a few truly sincere people in the mix.

I don't know, maybe it is time for Silken Shadows Vampire Community to move on as well. Perhaps it is time to once again return to static pages with no person to person, vampire to vampire, mentor to vampire, friend to friend connection. I was grudgingly trying to clean up the mess of spam last night for those few good members. The software crashed on me several times and I didn't even want to fix it. It just wasn't worth the stress. Who cared?

For now, for a little while I think I will keep the site at just this page. For how long? I don't know; maybe a week, maybe two. I'd like to know if there's any vampires out that that would like to see it rebuild. Is anyone willing to step in and help run an online community without my interference? I would need forum moderators and a lead administrator with the ability and desire to promote, mediate and enforce.

If there's any real vampires left on the internet that aren't looking for a bubble-gum playground and would rather get involved in adult conversations about vampirism or any other topic worthy of passion, then let me know by leaving a comment. The only way I'm going to reopen this website as a community is if I get enough responses in favor of it and there are people to run it.

Here's links to a look back at SSVC over the years on the way back machine. Although SSVC first opened in 1997 it was not on its own domain until 2001 and then went to ning in 2008. Enjoy the walk down memory lane.
